Even if you don't normally observe the season of Advent in your church, you may be interested in this inductive Bible study for all ages for your family. It's free to download from Here. You will need one copy per family member. We always got them spiral bound at an office store with transparent pages back and front. It seems like a lot of bother, but it is really worth it.

It has quite a few pages, so make sure you have plenty of black ink and paper before starting to print. There are some black line drawings for colouring which the younger members of the family will enjoy whilst the older ones do the 'grown up' study of what the Bible says about Jesus' coming and birth, both in the Old and New Testaments. There is about 30 minutes' work for each day of Advent. We like to light the cadles on our Advent wreath while we do the reading and study and pray. It helps to build the anticipation towards Christmas!

Because it's an inductive study, it encourages close reading of the Bible texts. A few myths about Christmas are dispelled as a result and your whole family will end up with a more thorough understanding of God's plan for us through the Incarnation.

For several years we did this study and were very much blessed by it, so I think we will be taking a break this year and just doing the Jesse Tree together (the link is in my sidebar to the left). Also, this year, Jamie is working a lot of lates and the evenings he is home he has music to work on for church, so I think our evenings are going to be different this December time.

However, I do thoroughly recommend you take a look at this study and see if this would meet your family's needs for an Advent devotional which brings you closer to Jesus and an understanding of the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
