Last year I resolved never to make another New Year Resolution. I think I've broken that by sticking to it. But I'm easily confused, so I'm not sure.
This year, I want to look at some highly achievable goals. For me, and for the whole family. I think Sunday would be a good time for us all to sit down and figure out what we want to achieve and the steps we need to accomplish along the way. Nothing vague like, 'Be a better mum' but something that is actually measurable and that I'm likely to be able to do!
And I'm going to extend myself a lot of Grace if I fail.
Apparently, the reason most people fail at resolutions is because they don't expect to succeed. I'm sure the main reason for that is that they set unrealistic targets. So, I'm going to encourage baby steps for all of us. And part of the process will be looking back at what we've all achieved and how we've changed in the past year.
Yup. So, today's goal is to plan Sunday so it's fun and happy. We've taken the morning off church. After providing the music for 6 services in the space of 2 weeks, we need the rest. We'll sleep in. {g} A nice roast lunch. And then we'll look back and acknowledge God's faithfulness over the past year. After that, we'll set some achievable goals, in incremental stages for this year. Then we'll go into Oxford for the evening service there.
In the mean time, I'm going to look through some Emilie Barnes books I have, as I have a vague recollection of reading a great way to set goals in one of her books. In fact, I think we used her strategies in years past. I think I need a revision course!

Good idea, Dorothy! We're going to have a relaxed Sunday, too. Landon will be home from encampment (I can't wait!) and I am "off" this weekend after serving for the last 3 weekends, a total of 15 services. So, we'll go to church Saturday night. I'm going to make Belgian waffles for breakfast with my new waffle iron. Keep us posted on the goals you make!
Sounds like you're gearing up very nicely for a wonderful day. Good luck with your goal planning. Last year our family made a collective resolution and we are mulling around the idea of another one for this year. It certainly helps when there are others to help you stay accountable to your resolution. Looking forward to seeing your results!
Wow, Linda! 15 services???? You deserve a medal!
Enjoy your weekend!
Bonni,
That sounds great! Did you blog about your family resolution? Or is it private?
Enjoy your day and rest and relax!
You're HILARIOUS! ..... breaking a resolution by sticking to it (LOL).
