Lazarus, Come Forth!

In our church, we have All-Age services during the summer. We give the Sunday School teachers the summer off and the elders try to pitch the service at everyone. Trouble is, that All-Age services are so hard to get right. Some Sundays, no one is satisfied. Parents with young children find it so stressful that many don't even come to church during the summer because it's such a struggle containing their toddlers. etc.

Soooo, Jamie and I volunteered to lead a Kids' Praise Party last week in a different part of the school where our church meets, to allow the parents to attend church and the kids to have a break from trying to be 'good'. Our idea was 'Jesus has Authority' and the theme we centred it around was the raising of Lazarus.

Getting the craft and food tables ready. 25 kids turned up. We had lots of singing, dancing and jumping around!The kids got a loot bag each too!The inevitable, wrapping people up in toilet paper, occurred. The wrapped Lazaruses (lazari?) had a race, which was fun! We watched a section of The Miracle Maker on DVD.Grace was in charge of showing the children the songs' actions and Jack was our page turner! And I did a sketch involving the use of a frozen chicken. (Don't ask.)

We love doing things together as a family at church!
