All the Displacement Activity Knitting, for a start. I'm now completely addicted. Not that I knit anything interesting, because that would involve patterns and I can't concentrate on patterns at the moment. I'm a uni-tasker now, so I can only knit simple things which require no thought. I've been using a cotton worsted, self-patterning yarn from the USA, called PeachesNCream.
'What on earth are you planning to DO with all those washcloths/dishcloth things you are making?'
'What 's going on Mum? You look like an old granny when you knit.' and
'Are you completely insane?'
being some of the kinder comments I've heard lately.
And then I went and ordered some plastic bath ducks from Amazon. LOL!
Well, this is what I am planning. I'll buy some lovely bright shiny ribbon and tie this up prettily and give them as Christmas presents to friends.
And just hope that people don't wish I'd stuck to giving them tins of biscuits at Christmas, like I usually do. Oh, the news from the hospital yesterday was good, I got the all clear, so no need to carry on knitting away frantically, but as I said, I'm now addicted.{g}

Yep, knitting is definitely addictive. And I knit on despite jeers from the crowd.
So, so glad you got the all clear :)
Glad to hear the test results were negative.
I think the gift is a very nice idea....
I think your gift idea is lovely.
So thankful the results were negative!
Washcloths/dishcloths are retro-trendy, eco-friendly and much cuter than the plain cloths you can get from the store. Not to mention knitting is now cool :)
Still don't do it tho' but will defend to the death your right to do such things
YEA! Glad you received a good report.
LOL, I love the duckies! Of course, we have them for my daughter.
That's a lovely gift.
Wonderful - the results, I mean, not the ducks!
I think they're gorgeous, Dorothy!
Yeah for the all clear! Love the Christmas gift. The ducks give it just the right touch IMHO. ;-)
I love the peaches and cream yarn! Knitting is addictive! I wish I could do it with the needles and make finer knitted things like yours. But, I will have to stick with the looms for now as I have no patience to deal with needles!
I think your gift idea is a great one!
p.s. I have your magazines picked out and will mail them this weekend.
Very cute gift idea. I really need to learn how to knit.
Blessings
Diane
I love this gift idea! What is the knitting pattern called? It is very pretty. Maybe I will have time to make a few for gifts.
SO thankful for good your test results too!
Ooh, I love this idea. I just began teaching my 7 year old son to knit today. What a fun idea.
Hi Ladies,
Thanks for dropping by!
The knitting pattern is dead easy.
Cast on 32 stitches.
4 or 5 rows of knit. (I'm not that precise.)
knit 4 (this is the edge)purl 4 to last 4 and knit those for the other edge. Do that for 4 rows altogether, then reverse.
When you've knitted 9 or 10 blocks like that, you just knit 4 or 5 rows before casting off.
I just made it up, I think. I may have seen it somewhere on the internet (waffle pattern?) and copied it. You could do two stitches in the pattern which would make an interesting effect too.
Knitters: is it called some sort of moss stitch when it's fewer stitches? Or am I remembering wrong.
I'm hopeless really. {g}
The key is the PreachesNCream American cotton. It's gorgeous to work with. The colours do fade somewhat when you use them for cleaning in the kitchen, but they are very absorbant (and pretty) cloths.
Although I have LOVED my tin of bisquits...I think this is a VERY cute gift idea! I'll send you some rice bowls and chopsticks if you'll send me one of your lovely knitted cloths/duckie sets! :)
I miss you lots and love the fact that you visit my blog so much. Thanks for the encouragement and support!
I'm so pleased you got the all clear and don't have to worry any more! Love your dishcloths. I have become similarly addicted...it's so soothing last thing at night to keep my fingers busy but doesn't involve my brain! The peaches and cream cotton is beautiful. Mine are also going for Christmas presents with soap and a tea towel. I ordered woven baskets yesterday to put them all in and may add some bisuits as well.
Well as someone who loves to craft, knit and crochet I think it is a perfectly 'normal' thing to do ;-) I think they make fabulous gifts and would be delighted to receive something like that for Christmas as you know the effor that has gone into it.
