Croquet with the aid of a Mohican

We went to our church's picnic/garden party on Bank Holiday Monday last week and Jack took on all comers, including the Pastor and Church Secretary, in a particularly vicious game of croquet. He'd never played before, but nothing daunted, he grasped the game and soundly thrashed them both. They claimed his mohican had given him an unfair advantage.{g}

Call this a sport?
Jack will try any game. He usually wins. He's one of those people.

He's off at an Athletics competition today. In his Christians In Sport tee-shirt. I'm praying he does well and keeps his Christian witness.
.
Another Chemistry exam tomorrow. He spent all day yesterday studying, so we felt he needed today to do something active. At a friend's 40th birthday party last night he was commended by the Managing Director of CIS for sorting his Life's priorities correctly: Sport on the day before an exam, not last minute swotting. {vbg}
.
Mmmmm....I'm not sure about that. I mean Sport is Jack's mission field right now, so maybe he's right.
.
Grace and Jamie cycled to a Pentecost Praise in the Park this afternoon in our town. Live Christian music in the Victorian park, with flower beds and bandstand. They are in the audience for this, which makes a nice change. It is a beautiful, cloudless summer day.
.
I've been reading a book about mission in post-modern Britain.
In the hammock.

Glad to hear you are taking advantage of the hammocky weather :). We have a bandstand and Praise in the Park here too, though not one for Pentecost. We also have wheelie-bin racing which I gather our town copied from yours.

You had a praise in the park day today but not for Pentecost? What else is on the Christian calendar today?

I'm afraid I haven't heard of wheelie bin racing here. We must have missed that!{g}

I can recommend hammocks!

My husband is just the same - great at all sports. My son is the exact opposite, but I think the daughter will be a sport fan! She loves playing ball around the house, and can throw like a natural athlete.

I need to kick back with a book! I usually wait until the evening when it's quite, but by then I'm cross eyed and brain drained.

Have a blessed Pentecost!
