The kids who'd been studying together this year for the Art, Drama, Chemistry and Biology (or some of the above) IGCSE exams, had a family BBQ, followed by a camp-over at the Montessori school where they'd been studying the sciences.

Jack gives out Life-Songs fliers.
The kids organised themselves into spontaneous games, which includes rounders (bit like baseball) Duck, Duck Goose and Hide and Seek. Which is pretty funny since they are all 13-17 years old.

The mums prepared the food.

Some of the Dads check on the MEAT! Jamie helped at the separate vegetarian BBQ.

The teenagers round the campfire as the evening draws on. (It's still quite light until 10.00pm in mid summer.)

Jamie was one of the parents who stayed on site to supervise, but he went to bed at 12.00 and they were still up, singing and laughing around the campfire. There were some interesting philosophical discussions going on too.

None of the kids went to bed. {g} And were still playing in the morning.
.
It's good to know what staying up all night feels like, I guess. Part of their education.

I look at these pictures and feel a mixture of pride, joy, and sadness. I see something that has been a way of life for us, for the last 14 years, ebbing away because of a vindictive
Government Review.

What an incredible lot of fun! I'm amazed at how light it is...and they call ALASKA the land of the midnight sun. LOL
Fantastic! Jack did dye his hair red then. Brilliant :-)
What exactly is on a vegetarian BBQ? LOL!
What fun! We don't have any tight knit or even loosely organized groups like this around our parts. There are many home educated children in my area, but they are all very independent. We live in a touristy historic area, so there is a lot to do on your own. We are blessed with many community resources for children as well. Still, I miss some sort of comradery among fellow homeschoolers.
Looks like a great time!
Ah, camp fires and youthful all nighters. The stuff memories are made of.
I know, Winston would not up with that have put, but whatever. Well done Jack.
Looks like a great way to celebrate the end of exams!
What fun! And as for sleeping, has anyone ever slept at a sleepover??? That's just not what they are for!
