First Chance to Stop

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Did you hear that sigh?

This is the first chance I've had to STOP for about a week. Our days are so busy that I haven't been able to blog lately. {Gasp!} Sorry, Serenata. After your admission yesterday when we met up, that my blog entries were the highlight of your day, I feel badly about the radio silence, not to mention seriously concerned about you.{Insert manic laughter.}

Today I shipped the kids off to a Shakespeare workshop solely in order to have a day at home alone. Poor souls! Richard the 3rd is a tough one. We'd watched the BBC play from 1983 in preparation for today which, as Richard 3rds go, is very good. But good grief, it's long. And complicated. And bloody. I wondered momentarily whether I should let them off going. And forgo the rare delights of a day at home. Alone. Did I mention that part?
I'm quite sure Grace, in particular, will spend the day confused as all get out.

Oh well, they'll have a nice time with their friends. I said, as I stuffed their lunchboxes and pushed them out the door.

Jamie dropped them off on his way to work and after they'd gone I spent the morning catching up with cooking and laundry, as is my destiny.

Then, I SAT DOWN and rested. Ooooo - that was nice.

I feel a poem coming on!

A quiet house
***********
No music,
No noise
Or requests.

Peace,
Stillness
And rest.

Just
For
A Moment

I am serene.

Then my cat
hurtles through
the cat flap
and miows,
furious
at her empty bowl.

Oh and another!

Beautiful Blogger, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!

OK, I didn't make that one up.
But I could have.
If I'd wanted to.

Dorothy--is that what you do when you have a free moment to yourself? Write poetry? Wow! I'm impressed. I guess all that Shakespeare prep got your creative juices flowing. :)

Does Jamie write music these days?

Really good poetry, yes, very good indeed...

hmm anyway, can 7 year olds be left at all day Shakspeare workshops? Rather craving a day to myself too. LOL

Hope it was as enjoyable a day as it seems from your relaxed blog post!

Hi Kathy,

No he doesn't write songs, but he does write quite a lot of arrangements for other instruments for church.

Jodi,
I think possibly Shakspeare might be easier than Shakespeare so it's possible they do have them for 7 year olds.

You could just send all the kids out to the guinea pig shed for the day and pretend they are at a Shakespeare workshop.

Or would that be a problem for the New England Authorities?

Fun poetry, both original and otherwise!

Very nice poetry, Dorothy! You are an inspiration to us all.

Hmmm...a day alone...what is that? I can't remember. I'm thinking it will be years before I'm able to experience one of those again.

Hope you enjoyed your day.

Can I come over?

LOL, my spelling errors always get me in trouble. Alas no guinea pig shed this time of year it's buried in snow. I will work towards having the guinea pigs (who reside loudly in the front room in winter) put on a Shakespeare workshop for the kids but if it proves too hard for them I will allow them to present Shakspeare instead. That might be better for guinea pigs.
