Dearest friends, what a delightful tale I have to tell of my visit to Court this day! Prithee, sit and rest whilst I recount it.
My hosts did take me by road some leagues past London to the Court of Hampton and its splendid Tudor Palace wherein our great King Henry VIII doth reside with his wife, the Queen Anne of Cleves. How long she shall be his wife it is not known, as the King is most displeased with her appearance, having married her on the strength of a very flattering portrait brought to him by courtiers.
Here are Master and Lady Stewart in the Clock Court. King Henry doth love this marvelous astronomical clock. I know not what the pink maid doeth.
Oh I see, twas but a merry jape.
Lady Grace tries out a broom. I told her she must needs exert herself not. We have servants to accomplish such deeds.
What a pretty doorway! I do like gold decoration on houses, do you not? I must ask Sir Bobby to fashion such a doorway upon my return to New Hampshire.
Ah, here is Madam Stewart looking pensive. Indeed, she is much in need of thought about the straggliness of her hair. She should most certainly have tied it up and attempted to make herself look more pretty for these images.
And so to lunch, in this lavishly furnished dining hall which we had all to ourselves. It seems that our 'home Education Group' had a school lunch room allocated to our little party alone! I enjoyed my salad. But I do believe Master Jack is partaking too much of that flagon of beer!
After our noonday rest we perambulated through the gardens. There is a wondrous maze through which we spent many a long hour attempting to find the exit. I was much needed to peer over the top of the bushes and I did, at last, espy the way to escape.
Lord Stewart enjoyed his tour of the Court with me and was not at all embarrassed to be seen with a small yellow duck! I shall reward him handsomely. Sadly, we did not meet Great King Henry. But it was a grand day nonetheless!

What a "wikkid" tour. I am very much enjoying Betty's travels. What a fun time she is having. Do you always take so many interesting trips?
My life seems utterly devoid of any adventure by comparison!
Debbie,
Home-ed trips have always been a strong element in the kids' education. There is so much to see, and learn from, in this country that it would be criminal to stay indoors reading about subjects in books when we could be out there interracting with the real thing!
Also, we don't have 'co-ops' in the same way that you have in the US. Group meetings are usually quite informal and for socializing purposes mainly.
AND another reason we've done so many lately is that we're aware that Grace won't be fully home-educated for much longer as she will probably be starting college part-time soon. I guess I can see the end of our HE journey is in sight and so that has spurred me on to experience as many of these trips as a family as possible now while they are still young!
Your turn for adventure will come!
Dorothy
We've had an enjoyable morning reading of Betty's latest adventure!
I have to say your writing style sends Hayley into hysterics and she thinks you sound like a fun Mother. She giggled at the gold leaves doorway which Betty wants daddy to make, and your comments about the kids and your DH but she was literally ROFLOL at your comment about your own hair!
The boys want to know when we can go on this field trip.
You've given us a some new vocabulary words for the week!
Oh-oh Jodi, was one of the words Strumpet?
We are away next weekend for a few days at a christian conference on the east coast. I'll try and get a picture of Betty at the seaside, preferably getting wet, because she seems to have a phobia about that and then I guess we should send her packing, the baggage (shakespearean word, that one!)

Oh, Dorothy, I love your way of making everything sound so wonderful! I think I would like to jump into a padded envelope and mail myself to you in England to have such grand adventures as Betty is having! You have given my quite the chuckle over Betty's post. I had to grab a cat to put over my incisions, as there was no pillow nearby! ;^)
