Perfect Students

Another Art Day.

After a morning of sketching, it's time for a collage. The kids (and one of the mums) in this picture are concentrating hard on their task. Grace and Jamie-Leigh look for pictures/text/textures which express something important about their personalities.
The boys are so serious about their work. They consider the implications of their artistic choices.
A happy bunch about to discuss their work in small groups, which is a task for their ASDAN portfolios. My kids are so mature and sensible. They work hard with persistence and diligence. I am such a proud mother! Oh no! How did THIS photo get in here?

What is an ASDAN portfolio? Is that something you are required to keep and/or submit for homeschooling in the UK?

Renee,

We have no requirements here for home-education but public examinations are usually taken by students at 16+ and 18+ years. Those results are what determines entry to higher education including universities.
Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to arrange if you aren't in school. So HE'ers tend to look for possible alternatives.

We recently discovered a portfolio-based system of awards and qualifications which a local group of home-educators are moderating, so many of our kids are working on that.

It's based on lots of practical projects and 'real-life' skills. We'll still do some of the public exams but the ASDAN qualifications are equivalent to some of them, so it helps a great deal.

You all have the best classes. The art projects turned out great! By the way, I changed my comments on my blog so they pop up like yours. Let me know if this helps you!

Looks like a great class, Dorothy, humorous post! From what I've seen of Grace in the past, she always seems to have such nicely matching clothes, jewelry, a pleasing sense of fashion, sense of detail, and ability to pull a whole look together.
