Some of the books I'm processing this week. I have a small home business selling second hand books to home-educators. I adapted the idea from another lady who has a business like this in the US. (Chris Brock)
I sell a couple of hundred books every 2 or 3 weeks or so, when my lists come out. It's a very small earner, but we have expanded our own considerable home library whilst doing it.
The down side is that it takes so much time. I'm a useless typist and there is a lot of that involved. We have a tiny house already packed with books so the ones for sale are perched in piles in corridors, in boxes under the beds etc which mean they are difficult to find sometimes. Also, I am hideously disorganised.
But I do my best and it brings in a little extra money. My favourite thing is when someone says, please send me x number of books or £X worth of books at this age level/ subject. I LOVE having a free hand and sending them things I am pretty sure they'll enjoy. I did a '10 books for a Tenner' deal lately and people seemed pretty happy with the books I sent!
I spent most of Tuesday processing orders and still have a bunch to do on Thursday. Then it's on to packaging on Friday and Saturday and after that, back to collecting from my various sources again!
People sometimes email me to tell me I am selling books which are out of print or worth a lot more than I am selling them for and I should sell on Ebay! But that's not the point of the whole thing. I like to provide this service to home-educators. I'd rather see a book go to a family who READ it and treasure it than to a collector, so I charge the same sorts of prices for all kinds of editions, though I did find a couple of interesting first editions once which I've put away for the grandchildren. If we have any!
I only wish I had time to read them all!

I'm impressed at how you and Chris manage this.
