Twenty Years ago

I thought this might be fun to show Jamie one day! When he needs a good laugh!

Twenty Years Ago
***************

Jamie had a dozen expensive, vintage guitars and a cool, slim girlfriend.
Now he has a middle aged wife, two kids, a crippling mortgage and two rubbish guitars. (That were donated to him by someone else.) Oh and a piano that came from the dump.

Then, he used to have many, many burly roadies to haul his equipment to the gigs.
Now, he has me. And a bad back.

Twenty years ago, the people Jamie played to jumped up and down with excitement, screaming his and his band-members' names. People entered competitions to win the possibility of meeting him and getting his autograph.
Now, he's happy if the old bloke in the corner at church gives him a thumbs up after a lively version of Oh Jesus, I have Promised!

Then, he wore outrageously expensive clothes and had holidays on tropical islands.
Now, he wears second-hand clothes and has a week's camping with his wife and kids in Devon. If he's lucky.

Then, he was admired, respected and sought after.
Now, he is ignored, despised and laughed at. By many of the same people, even some of his family. 'Christian' is a dirty word here.

Then, he played audiences of 20,000 to 70,000 and major tv events like the MTV Awards.
Now, he plays for an audience of One.

Ah, but then, he did not know his maker.
And now, he is the adopted son of the Lord Most High, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.

What a difference twenty years makes! {g}

Oh, Dorothy, wonderful post. And you know that he wouldn't trade anything now for part of his old life. :)

I loved reading this and thinking about 20 years ago....nothing near as dramatic as the change in your lives...but STILL...Hasn't God been so good? I can't imagine going back to my early 20's.....

Wonderful post, Dorothy. Bessie was very interseted in "who" your hubby was. I know you mentioned it before, but I couldn't remember. She found him on the internet and was even more impressed with the difference 20 years has made.

Thanks for sharing.

20 years does make a difference. I would not want to go back, but I would also not want to change anything. Looking back, I know God used alot the stuff back then to draw me to Himself today.

Thanks for the trip back in time. That was a very creative blog! I may have to steal your idea... but then I'd have to dig out pictures and well.... you know how long that would take (LOL)!

I wouldn't want to go back 20 years either....
