Our main family holiday this year was a camping trip to
Soul Survivor. The kids have been wanting to go for years. No other local youth group was going on this particular week (there are 3 weeks in two locations) and Grace was going to need support anyway, so we took the decision that, so they could go to the Christian camps they wanted this summer, Jamie and I would forgo a family holiday on the beach.

We took 2 tents, so that Jack (and the red ferret) could have one of his own and a little independence.

Grace wending her way back to our tent.

The less said about the toilets the better. Almost as bad as toilets in France. Think 4 or 5 thousand teenagers and about 20 toilets, most of them portaloos.
Or rather, don't think about them.

The queue for the portable shower units.

The week was rainy and cold. Grace and I huddling together for warmth.

Jamie tries to look like a hip young youth leader...

Jack found a group of youth from Liverpool who adopted him for the week. He made some fun friends. He was always easy to spot in the main meetings because of his hair.

See the rain outside? LOL!

We laugh at camping in muddy fields!

The first day, Grace between the two tents, before the heavens opened.

Look on the bright side - it was drier than last year when my DD went ;). In answer to your question, she seemed to enjoy it, despite the rain, the toilets and the queue for the showers. I doubt she would go again because of those aforementioned downsides of camping ;). In any case it is academic as she went with the local Baptist youth group, thanks to J-next-door, and J has moved on to the New Life Church and youth group (which DD occasionally tags along with, but finds a bit heavy going. Too much Bible study for her taste!).
So did you get as wet and muddy as you would have got wet and sandy? Glad you didn't take photos of the loos...
Do like Jack's red ferret :)
The toilets in France are the WORST - esp at rest stops...... I was happy to be back in Germany and pay for a clean potty
Yeah, there is something to be said for those toileta damen in Germany. Except I wasn't too keen on the two - four measly squares of toilet paper they rationed out!
I like Grace's cap. My daughter put one of those on at a world market store last week. I almost bought it for her even though it's for big people. Very cute.
The conference sounds like a blast MINUS the tents and toilets! :)
Now there is something good about the ferret, you can find your child in large crowds!
