Painful Saturday

Saturday was a strange day. I spent most of it in pain, despite some pretty strong analgesics. Stomach cramping, hip pain and neck being 'out', slipped disc or whatever. I limped through the day, starting projects, finding I couldn't do them, so stopping to sit and read.

I managed to pull a Shabbat together. Jamie had to go grocery shopping with me and push the trolley because I couldn't. I bought a couple of loaves of interesting breads but they don't sell chollah in Tescos.{g} It was really nice to get back to our Shabbat routine again. It settles and reconnects us with God as a family, rearranging our priorities and preparing us for the Lord's Day.

Jamie went car-booting first thing. Cynthia asked what this was. You know how you have garage sales? You go to people's homes and look though the stuff they are selling and it involves lots of driving? Well, we don't have those, we have Car Boot Sales. A large field is rented. Sellers go to the field in the cars and leaving their car boots (trunks) open and sell directly from there and on tables laid out in front. Some of them have 1,000's of cars. Bargains can be had and lots of people get rid of perfectly good books which I, of course, am happy to pass on to other home-educators at a (slight) profit. He came back with a good haul.

Jamie and Grace worked in the garden in the afternoon. He was pruning some overgrown bushes, she was cutting up the branches for disposal for him. He was up a ladder. She sat like a princess on a chair. They chatted in the sunshine. But her cold is getting worse. Jack slept late, tidied his room, went to play tennis with a friend and went to bed early. Neither of the kids is feeling that great. Jamie spent the evening preparing for and rehearsing the music on Easter Sunday. He isn't leading just playing bass.

Right now, he and Jack are at the inter-denominational Sonrise Service up on Brill Hill near the windmill. They woke Grace and I but we just couldn't make it out of bed. Not laziness, just not feeling great. They will have breakfast at a church member's house and then rush back here to change and get out to church early.

I am so longing to go. I love everything about Easter Sunday and always have. I can't wait to join in the traditional response to

'Alleluja! Christ is Risen!'

with

'He is Risen Indeed! Alleluja!'

Dorothy,
Thanks for explaining the car boot sale. I figured it was some sort of flea market type thing, but couldn't figure out the "boot" part... makes sense now... and now I remember the back window of my parents pickup that connected to the camper in the back was called a "boot."

I am sorry you aren't feeling well, D. It sounds like you are in a lot of pain. When I have something paining me I have a hard time concentrating on much. Sure hope you are better soon and all the colds.

Happy Easter!

Dorothy - I am so sorry you are in pain. :( You have a sweet family. Does Jamie know what books you would like? Is he a good bargain shopper?

I can just picture Grace and Jamie working outside. I love those moments when the children sit nearby and there is father (or mother) / child time. Precious! What do they talk about??
