The Week's Highlights

Wow! Such a frantic week! I've not had time to take any photos which must be making this blog REALLY boring! I'll try to do better next week.

Some of the week's highlights were:

Talking to my friend Jan who came for lunch with her children one day. We laughed so much!

Accomplishing 'sofa school', which is Bible study, reading alouds etc, with the children (I have to find a new term for them, I think) four days this past week, which was every morning we were home.

Coming to some conclusions as to educational approaches for the kids (that doesn't feel quite right either) next academic year.

Discovering www.galorepark.co.uk which might just be the answer to some of our needs.

Nailing down some of the peskier details for the Resources Display I'm organising for local HE'ers. We have one of the UK's main distributors for HE materials coming to town on Tuesday. It's my job to ensure everything goes smoothly. {gulp}

Designing the worship time with Jamie for church today. Playing and singing went well I think. Though the words projection failed for one song...

Celebrating Grace's 16th birthday.

Taking a meal over to a mum and dad from church who've just had their second baby.

Remembering to cook some soup for lunch today, YESTERDAY. It was so nice to just flop down at the table when we got in from church with something good and wholesome to eat. I'm not usually that organised.{g}

Getting my hair cut! I just love that head massage they do after putting the conditioner on!

Being told that Jack is too good at Gymnastics to remain in his current club! The downside being a much longer journey to a new, better club.

Having some email friends pray for me when I felt very down earlier in the week and feeling so much better for it.

Hearing today that a friend from church has, by the Grace of God, been officially HEALED from Coeliac Disease through prayer. You are an amazing God!

Being reminded afresh that I have an extraordinary husband who is totally (and inexplicably!) devoted to me and me alone. {g}

But the best thing was hearing Grace sing her first solo in church today, 'When Angels Looked on.' People told us they found it very moving. Grace has a special voice and God is using her more and more. I think maybe her social challenges, the different way she relates to the world and her learning difficulties give her voice an extraordinary innocence which is a wonderful conduit of God's presence. Well, that's what people have told me. I don't really know. I just know she was note perfect and I didn't hear any tremor of nerves in her voice, though I was practically curled up, clenched with nerves *for* her! Another woman, who's her singing teacher and a professional opera singer joined in harmonies for the second verse and it really was lovely.

It's such a blessing that Grace can do *something* really well and for us to have something to congratulate her for. Thank you so much God.

Congratulations to Grace on singing her song so well. I bet it was quite moving, indeed.

I hope all goes well and without a glitch at your upcoming Resources Display! Sounds like a big job you've taken on.

I wish we could have heard Grace sing! We would have been her very own cheering squad (and probably totally freaked her out). I am with you, I would have been dying inside, praying she did okay. :)

Kathy,
It was weird when she said she was ready to do a solo. Jamie and I were so shocked and kept asking her if she was sure. She said yes. She practiced it with her singing teacher last week and I heard it. It was pretty good! So we went ahead. All morning, I kept saying, 'You know you don't HAVE to do this, Grace' thinking she'd chicken out. But she didn't!

This is the girl who is too nervous/shy/ASDish to go up to someone she's known for years and say hello, but she can sing, alone, in front of 200 people!

I think that music is a language all of its own. Thank God Grace has a facility in that language. I don't mean she's a savant or anything, she doesn't have that type of autism, but just a facility.

Congratulations, Grace! Great job! I'm sure you must have been so nervous, Dorothy.

It is such a blessing to have music.
