Goodbye Grumpy Feelings

A few people have emailed me about the children's song I mentioned in a previous post, Goodbye Grumpy Feelings. {g} We often include a children's song when we are leading worship at church, during the time before the children go out for their groups.

We've also been trying to increase the number of children's songs' repertoire through singing them in church, in the groups and during Kids' Praise Parties. It concerned us that a lot of the songs used were either not particularly Biblical or just plain odd. I'm not going to mention any of the culprits in case they happen to be your favourites!

Our main beef is that most kids' songs seem to fall into two main categories. Either, chirpy but silly and pointless or terribly scriptural but dull. We want songs that are both sound AND fun to sing.

David Heath-Whyte, who was a trainee minister (curate) at a previous church we attended used to write his own songs as good ones were hard to find. He now has a website when you can listen to them and download music and words, most for free. Here it is:

The title is weird, but ignore that. The lyrics are often very close to scripture, biblically sound and therefore truly meaningful, but not at all dour as some kids' songs are. The tunes are catchy and they are very easy to learn. Many have actions.

Bible passages are easily searchable so it's easy to check which songs would fit with which theme.
