Seasonal Photos

I bought this new Christmas plate from Tescos. I love the design. There's a lot of 1950's style design here this Christmas. This would have been right at home in my parents house when they were newly married, I think. Now it's back! I wanted to get more, but we couldn't afford it, so I'm waiting to see if this range goes on special offer after Christmas. Despite being crippled, I managed to produce a cake yesterday. I think it was overcooked, so I supect it will LOOK a lot better than it will taste. It was supposed to be Boxing Day's dessert, not so sure now. I think I may have to make something else.
Tessie, the cat-culprit, who knows where the warmest spot in the house is. See, she is so cute, I just had to bend down and cuddle her, which is what did my back in so badly two days ago. I don't know why I love this little cat so much. Perhaps because she almost died this summer in a car accident. Or perhaps it's because I'm all out of babies.

Jack insisted on taking this photo of me as we were about to leave for our friends' house the other night. Not sure if that colour suits me after all. I forgot to suck myself in. I can look thinner than that when I try.
Jack relaxes after a 3 hour stint with the Scouts, packing people's bags at the checkout of Marks and Spencer yesterday. People give tips to the Scouts for the service and it's their main fund-raiser for the year. Personally, I can't imagine wanting 10-14 year old boys packing my shopping for me unless they have been properly trained in keeping bags of potatoes off eggs and croissants. Fortunately, Jack has been so trained.
And he has stopped commenting on my shopping now too. Once, before he could read so well, he held up a small box and exclaimed,
"You bought Party Liners? Are we having a party, then?" To the amusement of the whole queue behind me I whispered, mortified,
"It doesn't say 'party' Jack."
...'Nuff said.

Oh, your cake is quite lovely! If I had to choose between making a pretty cake or a yummy cake, I'd have to choose the pretty one! That gets everyone in the right mood to begin with, and it will go a long way toward making the cake taste even better!
