We got up early to do the present thing as we were due out at church to set up/play/sing etc. We were all ready and I remembered to put the turkey in the oven. Clever me. {g}
However, there was no heat. The fan was just blowing cold air around. After 20 minutes still nary a smidgen of heat so we had to stand up in church and beg the use of someone's oven this afternoon. Someone did offer as they are out for the day. I am now cooking everything except the turkey here and dashing off periodically across town to baste the turkey.
And that, my friends, is called Murphy's Law.

Oh my! That is dedication to your meal. I think I'd be making sandwiches.
Hope everything with your meal turns out terrific and you have a wonderful day.
It should be ready soon and Jamie is going off to get it and bring it, triumphantly, home. A strange thing for a vegetarian to volunteer to do, but he's a great bloke! (And I have a bad back! Ha Ha!)
Clause 2 of Murphy's Law would state that the car breaks down on the way back and he has to WALK home, in the dark, bearing this turkey in its foil roasting dish, on his head.
Clause 3 is that it will rain.

Well, that is one turkey you will never forget!
I managed to break the control knob on our small oven / grill, but fortunately I only did it after I had cooked the parsnips in it! No grill until I get it fixed :(.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas despite the cross-town turkey basting.
Kathryn
Oh Dorothy...you have me giggling this evening. I'm choosing to believe that Jamie did not have to walk the turkey home...which is just a ridiculous picture in my mind! And certainly not in the rain! (It is pouring here in Florida though...all day. Too bad for all those children with new bicycles, scooters and such!) ~Yvonne
No, did the car really break down? I am thinking you will be laughing about this eventually, but it might not be for a few more Christmases . . .after you cook again in your own kitchen several times!
Posting again here, but when I scroll down and see your heading, I just laugh again. :)
