Scenes from the last few days

Thursday evening we went to a Passover Seder at our Oxford church. It was wonderful, as expected. The whole thing was LONG, though. We started at 5.45 and didn't leave until gone 9.00. They were clever about it and included lots of things for the little ones to do. There was a nice balance of the symbolic activities, readings, singing, drinking wine and eating a lovely meal. The Haggadah they used clearly pointed out the NEW covenant and how we are not bound to the old, but was 'authentic' enough for us to be able to share in something of the atmosphere of the Last Supper. It was very good. Grace and Jack responded well to it. More lightbulb moments for them every year.

On Good Friday morning there is always a Passion Play in our town. I stayed home this year as I was tired, but Jamie and the children went. There were a couple of hundred people following the procession around the town and each scene attracted big crowds of shoppers. It was a Churches Together production and such a good witness to the town that (almost) all the churches participated *together* in some way. It ended with a Vineyard style church band playing some really modern songs, which made a change from the usual super-slow renditions of 'Were you there?' which usually occur at this! {vbg}

Frantic gardening in the afternoon. Hacking back buddleia during a hailstorm is not my idea of fun. Neither is hunting down flowers and shrubbery, to cut for the children's Easter Garden, in a Force 8 Gale. Yet, we did both yesterday.{g} We have so little time these days, that when we allocate time to do something outdoors, it doesn't matter if there's a hailstorm or a Force 8 gale, we just have to do it THEN!

Oh, and we have more gardening jobs to do today and I just noticed it's snowing!{g}
