Gymnastics Competition

It's that time again! The day we have to sit for hours on hard benches to support Jack the Lad in his gymnastics. Yippee! My naughty hip loves hard benches.

This was an invitational competition. There were 10 clubs competing. There was no boys' section this time, so they competed against the girls. Here are the chaps from our club before going for their warm up.

And here are Jamie and Grace after several hours of sitting on the hard benches. They love it really!
Finally, after many hours, here's Jack doing his tumble. He's so fast he's a complete blur!

His landing was pretty good! Yay Jack!
Now he's performing at his best. His favourite activity, entertaining the troops while they await the results!
Jack gets a bronze for his vault. Not bad! His friend and team mate gets the gold, which is nice!

That's more like it. This is the podium position Jack likes the best. Who wouldn't? Jack gets the gold for his tumble, which is a short floor piece consisting of round off, flick, back somersault.

Jack looks pleased with his medals. And Grace is slowly regaining feeling to her bottom.
This is next to the gym where the competition was held and we thought it quite possibly the ugliest building in Britain. What do you think?

Fortunately, we also have quite a few of these.

Well done Jack! You, Grace and Jamie have my sympathy. I remember those hard benches :(.

Congratulations! We haven't attended any gymnastics meets, but our synchro meets are pretty long so we sure know the feeling of sitting around.

Congratulations Jack!

The look on Jamie's face is hysterical. I am reminded of sitting through hours long Tae Kwon Do demonstrations. Hard benchs too, ugh, bad memories!

Great job, Jack!

My brother was a wrestler in highschool...we had those very long all day tournaments. Those bleachers sure make the bottom sore.
